It's day two of my spiritual blog! I'm excited about this. It's a very, very good thing.
I have something that is very spiritual to share with you today.
Some of you might think it's a little weird, but I love it.
I also have several videos to share.
Tonight's Spiritual Selection is:
Les Miserables
This play changed my life. I know that's a little much, but it's honestly the only way I can describe it. The music, lyrics and emotions that come with this musical are unreal. I can't even properly write my feelings about it. When I hear amazing singers singing in harmony, I feel the spirit. VERY STRONGLY. God created music. Music creates the spirit. When I hear music, I can't help but be filled with the Spirit, and that I can't help but shout acclamations and get the chills all over my body.
This video is AMAZING. Alfie Boe is the best Jean Valjean I've seen. Ever. His voice is flawless. He can shift from octave to octave seamlessly. I have never felt the spirit so strongly while listening to a song as I have this one. His perfect performance gets the audience standing on their feet. One of my favorite things? I love the words to this song. Valjean is pleading with God to save Marius, who loves his daughter. He knows that Cosette is going to need Marius, and Valjean wants to ensure Marius's safety. It's absolutely gorgeous.
He starts off very solemn and reverent, and then the power of the song builds as his pleading becomes more intense. Be prepared for AMAZING.
This is one of my favorite parts of the musical. It's the end of the play where Valjean finally lets Cosette know about his past and how she came to live with him. The lyrics to the song Valjean, Eponine and Fantine sing are beautiful.
"Take my hand, I'll lead you to salvaton.
Take my love, for love is everlasting.
And remember the truth that once was spoken:
To love another person is to see the face of God."
I'm crying just typing it out!
To love another person is to see the face of God. How true is that? God created all of us, and He wants us to love those around us. To truly love someone, you need to be able to love ALL of them. Even if you dislike them. Service is a great way to show love. When you love your neighbors and you provide service through your love for them, you are serving God.
"When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."
(Mosiah 2:17)
This is just plain glory. 4 of the most famous Valjean's sing "Bring Him Home" as a quartet.
Music is not only for enjoyment, it can allow the spirit to come into our hearts.
It can also drive it out, if we're not careful.
Remember, God loves music, and God loves us. If we listen to the right kind of music, there is no reason why we can't become closer to God through our music.
This music is definitely Spirit-inducing.
Enjoy!
don't worry. Only all of my hairs are standing on end and I'm bawling staring at my computer. NBD.
