People Are Good

This is truly amazing.
Forgiveness is a real power that can free people from burdens and the pain of loss.
This is an amazing story about an amazing man who, with the help of God, Jesus and the Spirit was able to forgive a boy for something unimaginable.

Spiritual Survival

This story is amazing.
I was browsing lds.org (one of my most favoritest websites) and I found this wonderful Mormon Message about a man who survived 9/11.
In the video, he discusses how he dealt with the tragedy and how he grew closer to God, Jesus Christ, and his family because of it.

Here's the link:
Watch it, you won't regret it.

"After 9/11, some have said there is no God. But for me, He has never been more real."

Something Special

This message I wanted to post last night (but I fell asleep) is vital to everyone's happiness.
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin was a member of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles up until 2008. This message was given in a General Conference talk, and what a beautiful message it is.

COME WHAT MAY AND LOVE IT.

Elder Wirthlin gives us 3 things to do in order to increase or happiness and success in this life.
I love the simplicity of this message.
I hope you do too!

Do you hear the people sing?

Hello, Everyone!
It's day two of my spiritual blog! I'm excited about this. It's a very, very good thing.
I have something that is very spiritual to share with you today.
Some of you might think it's a little weird, but I love it.

I also have several videos to share.

Tonight's Spiritual Selection is:
Les Miserables

This play changed my life. I know that's a little much, but it's honestly the only way I can describe it. The music, lyrics and emotions that come with this musical are unreal. I can't even properly write my feelings about it. When I hear amazing singers singing in harmony, I feel the spirit. VERY STRONGLY. God created music. Music creates the spirit. When I hear music, I can't help but be filled with the Spirit, and that I can't help but shout acclamations and get the chills all over my body.

This video is AMAZING. Alfie Boe is the best Jean Valjean I've seen. Ever. His voice is flawless. He can shift from octave to octave seamlessly. I have never felt the spirit so strongly while listening to a song as I have this one. His perfect performance gets the audience standing on their feet. One of my favorite things? I love the words to this song. Valjean is pleading with God to save Marius, who loves his daughter. He knows that Cosette is going to need Marius, and Valjean wants to ensure Marius's safety. It's absolutely gorgeous.
He starts off very solemn and reverent, and then the power of the song builds as his pleading becomes more intense. Be prepared for AMAZING.

This is one of my favorite parts of the musical. It's the end of the play where Valjean finally lets Cosette know about his past and how she came to live with him. The lyrics to the song Valjean, Eponine and Fantine sing are beautiful.
"Take my hand, I'll lead you to salvaton.
Take my love, for love is everlasting.
And remember the truth that once was spoken:
To love another person is to see the face of God."

I'm crying just typing it out!
To love another person is to see the face of God. How true is that? God created all of us, and He wants us to love those around us. To truly love someone, you need to be able to love ALL of them. Even if you dislike them. Service is a great way to show love. When you love your neighbors and you provide service through your love for them, you are serving God.
"When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."
(Mosiah 2:17)

This is just plain glory. 4 of the most famous Valjean's sing "Bring Him Home" as a quartet.

Music is not only for enjoyment, it can allow the spirit to come into our hearts.
It can also drive it out, if we're not careful.
Remember, God loves music, and God loves us. If we listen to the right kind of music, there is no reason why we can't become closer to God through our music.

This music is definitely Spirit-inducing.
Enjoy!

Spiritually Speaking

This is my first post on this Brand New Blog!
I want to give this blog a tiny preface:

Recently, I have been wondering how I can bring the spirit into my life more often--I read scriptures, and pray, but I've been looking for ways to spice up my spirituality, if you will. My friends have been posting General Conference talks on each other's facebook walls, and I admired that they were taking time to look at/read/watch their favorite talks and discover new ones. So, I decided to start this blog. This blog is going to be for spiritual things only. A place for people to come to find words of wisdom from Heavenly Father, His Prophets, Apostles, Disciples, and other Spiritual Beings who have helped the Spirit dwell on Earth. Each day, I intend to set aside a part of my day to (re)discover talks, quotes, pictures, songs, or anything that I find brings the spirit into my life. I think it will provide me with new insights into the Gospel and how to keep my life on the right track--the track He would like me to be on, and I pray that this will help anyone who is in need of a little enlightenment.

Namesake:
This blog's name comes from a talk given by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency in the LDS church. He gave this talk just a couple weeks ago at the General Relief Society Conference.
"Forget Me Not."

This talk is pure beauty. President Uchtdorf's talks are always full of power, eloquence, and cause a resounding peace to fill whomever listens to them. In this talk, Uchtdorf addresses the women of the church, and asks them to "Forget Not" five different things:

1. Forget Not to be Patient with Yourself
2. Forget Not the Difference Between Good & Bad Sacrifices
3. Forget Not to be Happy NOW
4. Forget Not the "Why" of the Gospel
5. Forget Not that The Lord Loves You

These are all such small, simple, and yet beautiful things that all of us need to remember.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the talk:

"Our journey towards perfection is long, but we can find wonder & delight in even the tiniest steps of that journey."

"If we spend our days waiting for fabulous roses, we could miss the beauty & wonder of the tiny forget me nots that are all around us."

"The Gospel is a light that generates mortality & illuminates the way before us."

"Seek out the majesty, the beauty, and exhilarating joy of the 'why'."

"No matter how dark your days may seem, no matter how insignificant you may feel, no matter how over-shadowed you think you may be, your Heavenly Father has not forgotten you....He who created and knows the stars knows you and your name."

Okay, so I basically quoted the entire talk, but it is so amazing, that I couldn't stop myself. The simple metaphor of the small, yet stunning forget me not flower to the small yet stunning blessings we tend to overlook in our everyday lives created the perfect image. We needn't worry about our Golden Tickets or perfect gardens; we need to focus on the small things in our lives that make them wonderful.
Once we do that, the Gospel will become a joy in our lives, and our pathway will become clear.

Thank you President Uchtdorf for giving me a reason to stop and smell the forget me nots.
